Remembering Sue Clothier

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Sue Clothier.

It has been said that you can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family. That is not entirely true. If we are lucky we encounter a few special people who become such an integral part of our lives they transcend blood ties and take residence in our hearts. For us here at Falls of Sound, Sue Clothier was one such person.

Many of you will remember Sue. She was the type of person who would be hard to forget. She first came into our lives in May of 2011. Katia had run an advert for a position that we had open and received over 400 applications. There were many well-qualified candidates but none stood out like Sue. From the moment she walked in we could tell this was a woman with a genuine love of life and people.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to work with us for long. In 2012 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Though she tried, Sue was unable to continue working as her treatments and condition took their physical toll.

Thankfully, out of the office didn’t mean out of our lives. In her short time with us, her and her husband John became very dear to us. Our families continued to see each other and celebrated many birthdays and special occasions together.

Sue Clothier was a singular person in this world. Throughout her long battle, she continued to encourage others and her contagious laugh brightened many a fellow patient’s days. To her children, she continued to be the perfect Mum.

It is difficult to express how special Sue was or the joy she brought to those of us who knew her well. Suffice it to say, she was one of the most genuine souls to ever pass through our lives and we will miss her sorely.
