A New Chapter Begins: Farewell to 116 Maud Street

Today marks the end of an era—and the beginning of a brand-new chapter for Falls of Sound Maroochydore.

This morning, I handed in the keys to the Sunshine Coast Council for our beloved building at 116 Maud Street, a place that has held so many memories, milestones, and moments of connection for both our team and the thousands of clients we’ve served over the years. It’s a moment filled with mixed emotions: a touch of sadness, an overwhelming sense of gratitude, and a strong sense of anticipation for what’s to come.

A Building Built with Purpose

Back in 2010, we set out on a journey to create something special—not just a clinic, but a welcoming, modern space that reflected our passion for helping people reconnect with the sounds of life. Construction on 116 Maud Street began that year, and after many months of planning, building, and fine-tuning every detail, Falls of Sound Maroochydore officially opened its doors on April 1, 2011.

We didn’t know it then, but this building would become so much more than just bricks and mortar. It would be a place where people walked in unsure, often frustrated with their hearing, and walked out feeling hopeful, supported, and empowered. Over the next 12 years, this location became a trusted hub for hearing care on the Sunshine Coast.

From routine hearing checks and fittings, to life-changing moments of someone hearing their grandchild’s voice clearly for the first time, 116 Maud Street was at the centre of it all. It was also the space where we welcomed new team members, shared countless cups of coffee with clients, celebrated birthdays, and came together as a family of professionals who truly care.

An Unexpected Turn

In May 2023, we received news that would ultimately change everything. The Sunshine Coast Council had made the decision to widen Maud Street to accommodate growing infrastructure needs, and as part of that plan, our building was to be resumed.

While we always knew that change is inevitable in a growing region, the reality of having to say goodbye to the building we designed and built ourselves was a hard pill to swallow. It wasn’t just a clinic—it was our home, our foundation, and our flagship on the coast.

From the moment we received the official notice on May 10, we set out on a determined mission to find a new space that would reflect the same values and quality of care our clients have come to expect. It wasn’t easy. Finding the right size, the right location, and a space that felt “just right” took time, patience, and more than a few late-night discussions.

The Search for a New Home

Over the following months, we viewed countless properties across Maroochydore and the greater Sunshine Coast. Each had its pros and cons, but none quite matched what we were looking for—until we found Unit 3, 70-98 Dalton Drive.

Located conveniently near Bunnings and just a few minutes from our old premises, the Dalton Drive location ticked all the right boxes. It’s easily accessible, has great parking, and offered us the chance to build something again—this time with all the experience and learnings we’ve gained over the past two decades.

After months of fit-out and preparation, we officially opened our doors at the new location—and we’ve been blown away by the warm response from both existing clients and new visitors alike.

The Spirit of Falls of Sound Lives On

While we’ve said goodbye to the physical building at 116 Maud Street, the heart and soul of Falls of Sound remains stronger than ever. What makes us who we are isn’t the address on the door—it’s the people behind the name, and the relationships we build with each and every person who walks through it.

We’ve brought everything with us to Dalton Drive: our same passionate team, our same commitment to clinical excellence, and our same personal approach to hearing care that we’ve nurtured since day one.

The new clinic features state-of-the-art testing rooms, a new sound booth, and a layout designed for comfort and efficiency. But most importantly, it continues to be a space where people can feel safe, heard, and cared for.

A Moment of Gratitude

As we close the chapter on Maud Street, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who made that space so special:

  • To our incredible team members, past and present, who brought warmth and professionalism into every appointment—thank you for helping create such a welcoming environment.

  • To the many clients who trusted us with their hearing health over the years—we’re so grateful for your loyalty, your stories, and your belief in what we do.

  • To our partners and suppliers, especially those who stood by us through the relocation process—your support has meant the world.

  • And to the Sunshine Coast community, who embraced us and allowed us to grow over these last 20 years—we couldn’t have done it without you.
